You will need a self-hosted website to be able to use the WPForms plugin.
Payments can be collected through different payments types namely;
- Through the sale of products and items.
- Through service subscription with is done via the subscription button.

On this article, we are going to focus on payments through the sale of products and items.
Step 1: Create a WordPress Form using WPForms
This is the first step of the guide and it involves the creation of a WordPress form.
To achieve this; Go to the WordPress dashboard click on the Plugin Then Add new and search for the WPForms. For this, choose a pro version that requires you to pay for it. Once you’ve purchased the form, install then Activate.
Once you’ve successfully activated the plugin, click on the WPForms then Add new. It will then direct you to the form builder whereby you will select the Billing/Order form. You can also decide to build your form from scratch by clicking on the Blank form.
Step 2: Addition of a Payment Field to the Form
This is the second step of the guide whereby; you add a payment field to your form.
Click on the Fields tag then Field options then Standard options. This allows you to add a name and an email. The name you will name according to the name you gave to your form. The Fancy field option allows you to add tags like the phone number and address. While using these fields, customize the tags depending on your preferences.
To add a payment field; click on the Payments Then Add fields. On this tag, you will find different sub-tags like the Label whereby, you will be needed to label it according to the name you gave to your form, the Description tag whereby, you give a short description about your form. There is also an Item price where you will give the value of your item.
There is also an Item type tag that has three items; single item, user–defined (identifies what you want to pick), and hidden. Choose on the Single item and tick the box Required to Make it required since someone has to pay the money.
Next, change the submit button to Pay Now. To do this, go to the Settings and rename the Submit tag.
You can also change the notification to Yes so that it can notify you once someone completes their payment on WPForms. You can also show a message whereby you that your customers or notify them that payment has been received.
Step 3: Configuring Online Payment
This is the third step of the guide whereby you configure/integrate the online payment. The payments can be done on either PayPal or stripe but in this article, we are solely going to focus on payments through PayPal payment method.
To achieve this, click on the Payments then click on the PayPal Standard. Once you’ve clicked here, you will be prompted to install an Addon. Click on the Addon, Install, Activate, and then Save. Once saved, it will reload and take you back to the PayPal standard.
Once there Enable PayPal standard payments. Proceed to add your PayPal Email and on the Mode tag put Production. The next tag will be the Payment type where you will add Products and services. The next tag will be the Cancel URL tag that once you click on it, it redirects you to link to a page that you had already chosen.
After filling and completing all the tags, Save. This is to show that you’ve already created a form that you can share with people to collect payments.
Step 4: Addition of the Form on the Pages
This is the last step of the guide where after completing your form and customizing it your preferences and how you want it to look like, you proceed to add it to the page/ pages you want it to appear on.
To add the form to a page, you can use different approaches;
Shortcode widget
You can use the shortcode widget by simply going to any page that you want your form to appear and searching for the shortcode widget, pasting it, and adding the shortcode you created.
WP Form widget
Go to the page you want your form to appear and search the WPForms widget and select the form you want and save the changes. Upon previewing, the form will automatically appear on the selected page.

To achieve this; go to the Pages Then Add new and give the page a title. After naming your page, proceed to add a block whereby you can enter a shortcode widget and enter the shortcode or simply enter the WPForms widget and select the form and then publish to make the page live.
